RUSSELL for IDAHO

Policy

Where I stand.

Transparency and accountability

Good leadership requires integrity. Integrity requires transparency and accountability.

Idaho has already taken many good steps toward transparency. Here is what's next:

  • Update the Sunshine laws. Special interest groups hide who they are paying, and who is paying them, by using Wyoming corporations. Voters should be able to see who is really behind the money.
  • Pay a bounty to whistleblowers whose proof of fraud against taxpayers leads to a successful prosecution, at any level of government.

Keep property taxes, keep local control

  • Every property tax decision you pay for is made by someone you can vote on.
  • If the state funds local services, someone from Owyhee or Ketchum decides what happens to your water, roads, schools and EMS.
  • Conservatives are for local control, not centralized planning.

Idaho's elections are secure

Idaho elections are secure and excellent.

School choice and properly funded schools

  • I'm for school choice.
  • Schools should be properly funded, so they don't have to run a local levy every two years.
